Distributing stimulus grants to help keep Colorado child care providers open and operating

Metrix, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Human Services, distributed $42.3 million in grants to 4,026 child care providers across the state. Providers used these funds to help offset lost revenue due to reductions in enrollment, to buy cleaning and classroom supplies, and to provide hazard pay to staff members.

The Problem

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal government rushed to get stimulus dollars into the hands of both individuals and businesses. Special attention was given to keeping child care providers open and operating so that parents could continue to work. The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) was tasked with distributing over $40 million in stimulus grants to childcare providers within an expedited timeline.

The Metrix Solution

MetrixIQ was hired to build a technology system and manage the operational process flow for provider program enrollment and payment of the grants. Metrix quickly built a secure process and database for gathering documentation needed for distributing and tracking grant payments to over 4,000 child care providers across the state of Colorado.

Metrix’s solution focused on:

  • Providing clear reporting and top-level service to the CDHS licensing team

  • Developing systems and processes to ensure accuracy of payments

  • Ensuring timely payment delivery to providers
